Happy Birthday Lincoln

Lincoln turns 9 years old today.  And he's still our best buddy. (sorry Henry...but you know it's true;)
Lincoln has been with David and me from the begining.

He's a little more gray in the face, neck and chest but he's still in great shape.

Rainbow!

I haven't seen a full rainbow since our honeymoon in Hawaii!
There are actually two full rainbows but the second one is hard to see.
If you tilt the computer screen and your head slightly you might be able to see the faint second rainbow above the obvious one.  So cool!

Conflicted

On the one hand, I am really impressed because this is the best attempt Emery has made at writing her name.
On the other hand, she wrote it on her bedroom door in RED SHARPIE.

I am both proud and disappointed.

Pinterest Strikes Again

Ok so, this might look a little 3rd grade craft project.  But I thought it was cute.  I saw this idea for a homemade mobile on pinterest.  I loved it because it was personalized and I had a lot of the materials already....
I even had the animals that matched the theme of the room.  (I found them a long time ago at Michaels for like 50 cents.  They were just brown cardboard before I painted them.)

Ash seems to like it. :)

Vacuuming Just Got Real

We have had the same old vacuum for about eight years.  And for the most part, I couldn't complain.  But lately it has started blowing dust out instead of sucking it in which is a little counter productive as far as vacuums go.  So after a little research and suggestions from family, (thanks Deb:) we got this Shark Navigator.  It is one of those multi surface vacuums that is so powerful, the directions warn you to turn the suction down a bit on some carpets in order to keep from damaging them.  It is just as good as a dyson at 1/4 the price.  I never thought I would be so happy to be thoroughly disgusted.

This is what came off of the 8x10 area rug in the living room!
 ...and then our bed room,
 ...and then the kids' rooms.
Oh My Gross!
I couldn't believe how much dust dirt and hair was in the carpets of our house!  The carpet where my daughter plays!  The carpet where my baby son rolls around!  I get the heebbie jeebbies just thinking about it.

G'bye Dusty.
