Summer Squash

We are starting to reap what we have sown!  These are the 2nd and 3rd squash that we have picked from the garden-the first was eaten so quickly I didn't get a chance to take a picture. They are growing so fast that we are going to have squash up to our ears soon!  If anyone (local) would like to have some...let me know.  We can't possibly eat what is to come.
*Side note- Check out that corn!

Bet You Can't Guess Where I Got This Idea

Just call me little miss DIY.
How cool is this extra large ruler that records our kid's height?
It sure has made Emery interested in how big she is getting.
I too was impressed with how fast she grows.
She loves to compare herself to Mommy and Daddy.  And tells us frequently that she will be bigger than us one day.  What is weird is that she is sure Asher will be bigger than her.  He won't make the board until he turns 1 so...we'll see.

Mantle Dilemma

I have been looking for something new to hang over the mantle.  I have had this large blank canvas sitting around and I needed some inspiration for a DIY project.

So on to Pinterest I went and this is what I found.  All you had to do was splash the canvas with color, tape off with painters tape, and then cover the whole thing with a neutral color.  Once you removed all the tape, this is what you were supposed to get:
This is what I got...  It wasn't exactly the look I was going for.  Plus the colors were a little too blue and a little too bright.
So then I found this one.  Even though it is wooden planks, I thought I could accomplish the same effect with paint.
Hmm...not so much.  It was a little too modern for our living space.
Feeling defeated I threw some color over the whole thing.
Horrible.
Then I put a little more thought into throwing some color over the whole thing and added even more paint.
This will just have to do for now.  I'm going to feel it out for a couple weeks.
This thing may be a foot thick in paint by the time I'm done with it.

Now That's Just Funny

Bet you can't guess which one we drank first.

28 Days Later...

In the garden that is!
Everything is growing nicely.
Check out this corn! I had to thin it out because I was worried of over crowding.
And look at the squash!
The cucumbers are coming along slow but they look healthy.
We are having a little problem with the beans though.
Because Peter Rabbit has been feasting on them!  As you can see below, he chewed through the fence, I patched it, and he chewed through again!  We know it is a rabbit because we have seen him many times.  One time, inside the fence!  Thankfully, he doesn't do much damage.  We just won't grow any beans this year.
Look at Cristina's side!  Her tomatoes and peppers look awesome!
The pumpkin patch is coming along nicely as well.
But I have to say that Dennis wins the gardener award for BC.
His squash looks awesome.  And his zucchini is just as nice.
His tomatoes are getting so big...they are growing through the cage.
I don't know who these belong to but these green onions are up above knees!
